Reparations ClubWHO & WHAT: Join us for an IRL EVENT with author of There Goes the Neighborhood and winner of the 2024 Coretta Scott King-John Steptoe New Talent Award, Jade Adia, as we discuss her newest YA novel set right here in LA, Our Shouts Echo. Jade will be joined in conversation with fellow YA author, Maurene Goo.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jade Adia writes stories about Black nerds, anti-capitalism, and home. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Ethnicity, Race & Migration, and a certificate in Human Rights. She recently survived law school, graduating with a specialization in Critical Race Studies. Her debut novel, There Goes The Neighborhood, won the 2024 Coretta Scott King - John Steptoe Award for New Talent. Her second novel, Our Shouts Echo, is forthcoming Summer 2024.
Maurene Goo is the author of several acclaimed books for young adults, including I Believe in a Thing Called Love and Somewhere Only We Know. She has also written for Marvel’s Silk series. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, son and cats.
