At the beginning of the environmental justice movement, Dollie B. Burwell was arrested for lying down in front of PCB-carryiing trucks that were dumping toxins in her North Carolina community. Her daughter, the late Kimberly Burwell, protested with her. Dollie later chaired the Joint Warren County/State PCB Landfill Working Group that secured more than 25 million dollars from North Carolina to detoxify the Warren County landfill.

Cathy Sheafor is a former environmental attorney and educator. She writes children's books about being, believing, and becoming.

Safier Hudson is an illustrator and designer from Lansing, Michigan, with a BFA in illustration.
