WHO & WHAT: A VIRTUAL EVENT w/ author Sesali Bowen and storyteller, filmaker, and art director, Amber J. Phillips, in conversation about her ode to trap feminism in a modern world, Bad Fat Black Girl.

Purchased tickets include a copy of Bad Fat Black Girl (with signed bookplate while supplies last). Books are shipped within 3-5 days after the event. US and Canada Only.

Sesali Bowen is a writer who curates events, writes for film and television, and creates elevated pop culture correspondence. Bowen is the former senior entertainment editor at Nylon magazine and senior entertainment writer at Refinery29. Focusing on Black pop culture, she helped launch Unbothered, R29’s sub brand for Black women. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times and Feministing. Bowen lives in New Jersey.

Amber J. Phillips is a storyteller, filmmaker and art director. She creates world building narratives using warm visuals and vulnerable performances through her lens of being a Fat Black Queer femme auntie from the Midwest. Amber recently released her first short film, Abundance about the limitations and radical possibilities of identity. Amber is the producer, writer, and performer of Abundance that was recently named a 2021 BlackStar Film Festival selection and won the audience award for Best Short Narrative.
