Lorraine Avila (she/they) is a storyteller. She was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, and has Caribbean roots. Avila spent a decade as an educator in the K-12 education system. She has a BA from Fordham University in English, an MA in Teaching from New York University, and an MFA from the University of Pittsburgh. The Making of Yolanda La Bruja is her YA debut.
Jehan Giles is a Teacher-Librarian, community archivist, and 2 time NEH Fellow. Jehan is a cultural worker that focuses on the improvement of the lives of children and Black & Brown Women through pedagogy, programming, and restorative practice. Jehan's author interviews include President Barack Obama, 2022 Guggenheim Fellow Dr. Keisha N. Blain, and MacArthur Fellow and National Book Award Winner Dr. Tiya Miles.
